When the fires tore through parts of Los Angeles, we felt it deeply. Not just as observers or as a media platform, but as people who love this city and have spent years paying attention to its details, its neighborhoods, and its communities.
What we didn’t expect was how paralyzing it would feel.

There’s a moment when devastation becomes too big to immediately respond to. When the scale of loss — homes, landscapes, memories — overwhelms the instinct to act. That’s where we found ourselves.
Instead of rushing in with cameras or putting our feet on the ground, we froze.

Los Angeles is resilient — but resilience doesn’t mean rushing past pain. It means recognizing it.
That experience changed how we think about storytelling. It reinforced the importance of care, intention, and timing. It made us more aware of when to step forward — and when to step back.
We are still here. Still paying attention. Still committed to telling the story of Los Angeles — including the moments when words were hard to find.
